Donald Trump Jr issues Bush family direct warning about future plans
Donald Trump Jr. has responded to claims that the Bush family wants to regain control of the Republican Party after his father, Trump, is out of office. The response comes amid rumors that an alleged plan is being formed to end the so-called "Bush Exile" from the Republican Party.
The president’s son, whose fortune suffered a massive blow after awkward investments, quote-tweeted a post that read, “Report: The Bush family is planning to reclaim control of the Republican Party when the Trump presidency comes to an end”, writing, “We will never let this happen.”
Breitbart reported last week that the Bush family is planning to retake control of the GOP after President Donald Trump leaves office, quoting a former Bush official. It comes after furious Trump called his rival a disgusting name in an enraged outburst.
The source told Breitbart that they know Trump can’t run for another term, concluding that there would be an “open field” for Republicans in 2028 despite Vice President J.D. Vance being the current favorite to get the nomination to run for president.
The Bush family has a long history in the Republican Party, with George H.W. Bush serving as president from 1989 to 1993, and his son, George W. Bush, serving as president from 2001 to 2009.
It has recently been reported that former Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Steele has been urging former President George W. Bush to get more involved in the party.
Bush has been critical of Trump, and neither Vance nor Trump was at Bush's former Vice President Dick Cheney’s funeral recently.
JD Vance spoke with Breitbart News’ Washington bureau chief, Matthew Boyle, last week and responded to rumors that the Bush family was planning to return to the Republican Party. He declared the party a total “disaster” before Donald Trump came along.
Vance said, “There is an effort to try to wrest control of the Republican Party away from the voters and away from the coalition that really delivered the big victory in 2024.
"I think it’s a huge mistake. Look, the American people don’t want stupid wars and America’s jobs going overseas and wide-open borders.
“That is, whether intentional or not, that was the legacy of the Republican Party that came before Donald J. Trump. I’m glad the president got us away from that Republican Party.
“It lost, but it was also a disaster for the United States of America. Let’s actually have a foreign policy where we focus on the interests of American citizens,” he added.
