Alan Carr admits 'this is wrong' as he makes Amanda Holden marriage realisation

Alan Carr admits “it’s so wrong” as he had a sudden realisation about Amanda Holden’s marriage. The comedian has struck up a close friendship with Britain’s Got Talent star Amanda in recent years.

The pair have even launched their own TV series where they renovate properties abroad. It started with Amanda and Alan’s Italian Job where they renovated a property in Sicily after buying it for a single euro.

The completed property, located in the picturesque town of Salemi, sold for slightly over £125,000 last year, with sale profits divided between Children in Need and Comic Relief. Subsequent series featured makeovers in northern Tuscany, Italy, and Andalusia, Spain.

The renovation endeavours have seen Celebrity Traitors winner Alan, 49, and 54-year-old Amanda spending more and more time together. Speaking to My Weekly, Amanda says she believes she might even spend more time with Alan than her husband Chris Hughes.

Alan even recalled a moment when he went out to dinner with Amanda and Chris as well as their daughters Lexi, 19, and Hollie, 13, in Covent Garden. Following their meal Amanda decided she wanted to grab a picture in front of the Christmas tree.

Alan said: “She was with her family but gave the phone to Chris, her husband. And me and her were posing and I was like, ‘Oh no, this is wrong’. But Chris has got such a fun sense of humour. He’s rolling on the floor with laughter.”

Amanda and Alan have recently launched their latest series, renovating a property in Corfu, Greece. They say the latest property is the “worst” they have encountered so far.

Speaking to Woman magazine, Alan revealed the house lacked stairs, floors, and even windows. "It had a poo," he quips, before continuing: "And it looked like there was blood in there. It was actually red paint. So the transformation is insane."

Amanda noted: "We're always heartbroken when we leave, but this was the worst one to leave."

Speaking to the BBC, Amanda says she was keen to visit Corfu as it’s a destination she visits with her family. She explained: "As a country we love it, I holiday there every year, Alan and I have holidayed there.

"We were fantasizing, saying oh, wouldn't it be amazing if we could do a show in Greece... we never actually thought it would be a reality!"

Alan meanwhile says the series tested the pair’s DIY skills, although admits he has become a dab hand with a hammer over the years. He said: "What makes this one really special is that even though we're getting better at DIY even when we saw the state of house at the beginning - my heart genuinely sunk - but the transformation was mind-blowing."

The Celebrity Traitors champion concedes they must "gear up" each series and stretch their practical abilities. Speaking to Woman, he said: "We have to do things we haven't done, or people are just not going to watch.

"This year, we put up a floating bed that was completely out of my comfort zone, but I can't pretend I don't know what a hammer is anymore."
