Liverpool urged to sign Premier League star Jurgen Klopp once called his 'favourite player'
Liverpool have been encouraged to make a move for Jarrod Bowen, whose talents were previously praised by Jurgen Klopp. The West Ham skipper has been touted as a potential arrival at Anfield on multiple occasions in the past and the 29-year-old has been the only bright spot during the club's alarming slump this season.
The Hammers find themselves languishing in 18th in the Premier League following a humiliating 3-0 defeat to rock-bottom Wolves on Saturday. Bowen has been head and shoulders above his team-mates during what has been a catastrophic campaign for West Ham thus far.
With the prospect of the drop zone haunting the club, the England international may be tempted to explore his options elsewhere, particularly if he wants to secure a place in Thomas Tuchel's World Cup squad. Former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster reckons Bowen would slot in perfectly at Anfield under Arne Slot's stewardship.
Speaking on the Fozcast podcast, the ex-Watford and Wrexham shot-stopper said: "He could honestly play for quite a lot of teams. He could play for Liverpool quite happily and he would suit Liverpool down to the ground. You'd get three or four years out of him at the same level and intensity.
"The reason why he's always with England and he's always selected is because he's a good lad, he does it properly, he works hard and he's got real quality. Somebody would have him if he left West Ham and he would make them a better team. I don't care who it is."
Foster's praise for Bowen echoes the warm words previously shared by Arne Slot's Liverpool predecessor Jurgen Klopp. The German coach was never shy about voicing his appreciation for the West Ham talisman.
Before a Carabao Cup encounter between the two sides in December 2023, Klopp labelled Bowen as "probably my favourite player besides my players", before adding: "It's just great what he's doing and how he develops."
