David Muir viewers say 'God have mercy on us' as ABC host shares Donald Trump update

David Muir viewers were left sharing fears for the future as the news anchor brought them a story about Donald Trump touting his renovation projects in Washington, D.C. — all while the United States remains fully engaged in a war with Iran that has sent prices skyrocketing.

The veteran news anchor, 52, was behind the desk of his nightly ABC News program for the Wednesday, August 19 episode of the show, where he was forced to report on a number of concerning stories.

Now, after he previously brought his viewers some “unhinged” news that had them scoffing about things being “really bad,” he once again sent them into a panic over his latest report.

The story covered how the president, 80, took reporters for a tour to showcase his renovations at the White House, where he demolished the East Wing to construct a ballroom–and shared how they were priorities–even as the war continues in the Middle East.

“Amid a war in Iran and President Trump facing record low approval ratings, this evening, the President taking reporters on a tour of his renovation projects,” Muir said, before turning the report over to John Karl.

“With the war in Iran soon to enter its seventh month and the concerns for conditions on U.S. Navy ships, and a new poll showing his approval rating at just 33 percent, a record low, President Trump today summoned reporters to check out his new White House helipad,” Karl said.

“The president placing gold coins on the granite and signing a slab engraved with his name. He says the helipad will be more than a place for his helicopter to land,” he continued. “And so it went for 40 minutes.”

“The president showing off White House renovations, which the Washington Post reports will cost more than 90 million dollars unclear how much of that will be coming from taxpayers. He brushed off questions about whether peace talks with Iran will resume.”

After the clip surfaced on social media, several viewers expressed their concerns and fears, admitting that they were worried about what the future held as Trump clearly prioritized his apparent vanity projects over ending the war.

“Oh God, have mercy on us all,” one person wrote.

Others fumed over the costs and the apparent lack of concern for the American people, while also questioning how he could even have the support he did.

“900 million could have strengthened the water and energy grids that have been compromised by hackers,” one said, while another wrote, “Meanwhile, the rest of the country struggles with inflation and wages.”

“He still has 33% approval…How is that possible?” another asked, while a fourth mused, “33% appraisal ratings sounds way too high.”

“33% of ya’ll still like this dude?” a fifth wondered.

Additionally, others remarked that it was wild to them where the president’s priorities were.

“I’m old. And a political science major who has always paid close attention to politics. Never in my life have I seen a President so disconnected from reality and the right priorities of the office,” one person said, while another wrote, “Guy is really in tuned with his finger on the pulse of the nation.”

“We got a major war going on with Iran, were running out of missiles, sailors getting fatigue wanting to jump off the boat, gas prices going thru the roof, food prices sky high, ICE going nutszo, midterms coming up, his ratings abroad and at home are at a all time low, got another war and Ukraine is trying to get missiles from us, got a personal war going on with Canada, raising tarif prices all over the places that WE gotta pay, and his f-----g agenda is A BALLROOM. Folks you can’t make this s--t up.”
